Happy Thanksgiving from Cambodia

Categories: Updates from the Lopez Family

May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord during this years Thanksgiving holiday! This morning I was blessed by reading the book of Ephesians. In the first three chapters, I was reminded of our immeasurable blessings in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. The whole book is loaded with encouragement, but check out what we have in just three verses after Paul gives his greeting in verses 1 and 2, verse 3 begins with the sweet words of; “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him.

In love He predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved.” That’s just the beginning, if you were to keep reading, Paul includes other blessings such as “the riches of God’s grace” (1:7), “the unsearchable riches of Christ “(3:8), “the riches of His glory” (3:16). All who are found in Christ have the ultimate reason to be thankful. We are thankful indeed! In addition, we have two other things that we are thankful for that we would like to share with you. One is regarding the little girl from our last two updates, Kiew. One problem in learning Khmer is hearing the first consonant correctly because most Cambodian people speak so fast. Therefore, I would like to apologize for calling her Kiew because her real name is pronounced Heo. Over the last three months we have been visiting and investigating potential orphanages for Heo. But we kept getting the same story, “she’s too old”, “she may be too street smart”, “have you checked out this or that orphanage”. Basically they all said that there is no hope for her due to her age. We had a hard time accepting this because we know that is not true. For we know that all hope lies in Christ Jesus and that with men this seems impossible, but with God all things are possible. In the last two weeks we came to the conclusion that we could not justify placing her in an orphanage when God has blessed us with everything we need to provide for her physically and spiritually. We are thankful for the rich blessings that we have in Christ Jesus and the opportunity to share these blessings with this 12 year old girl who has recently been orphaned. Please pray for us as we share the love of Christ to her in our home and pray that Christ will meet her every need as she will be facing many new challenges. The other thing that we are so thankful for is all of you. We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you. We are so thankful for the love you have for the saints who are in Cambodia and all over the world. Your love, prayers, and support make it possible for us to minister the love and gospel of Christ Jesus in Cambodia. Happy Thanksgiving! For His Glory, BJ and Andrea Hebrews 12:1-2
