We are actually in California! Our family is almost half way through our short stay in the US and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed our time. Thank you for praying with us as we prepare to launch Mikaela to college in the fall. She is ready for this next step and we are excited for all that God will do in and through her. She was able to serve this past week at a Joni and Friends Family Camp and is preparing to attend a re-entry camp for TCK’s a few weeks from now in July. Kamryn, CJ and Drew always enjoy re-connecting with family and friends. It gives us all a glimpse of what our ‘home culture’ is like and allows us to reflect on the blessings we enjoy both here and in Cambodia.
For many of us the recent Supreme Court decision regarding marriage have been an ominous sign that our country is in complete opposition to God’s biblical design for the family. While we mourn the decision of our leaders I find comfort that Providence is not taken by surprise nor is His redemptive plan thwarted (Isaiah 66:18). Stand firm my friends (I Corinthians 15:58), we remain confident that our hope is in Christ and His return (Titus 2:11-13).
Jodi and I would ask for special prayer as we make plans to attend the 40th Anniversary Celebration of Action International Ministries in Calgary July 5-14. During this time together we will present a Strategic Plan for the Mission and prayerfully appoint our next International Director and Associate International Director. Any leadership transition is critical to the future of an organization and we would ask that you would join us in praying for the Spirit’s direction! ACTION has 257 missionaries representing 19 nations serving in 25 different countries. As one who has served in ACTION leadership in one capacity or another for almost 15 years, my prayer is that we would come together with one mind and heart for the sake of the Gospel ministry.
As always we are so appreciative of your faithful love, prayers and support! Moving all of us around the world does come with some additional expenses. If you are led to make a special gift it would be a huge blessing. In addition, we recently were informed that Trinity International University (where Mikaela will attend) has a matching gift scholarship for local churches. If your church is interested let me know and I would be happy to pass on the details. Continue to remember the ongoing ministry in Cambodia and Southeast Asia. It is a blessing and privilege to serve Christ among some of the least reached people in the world!
In His Bonds,
Daren and Jodi
